Here are some recommendations for redeeming your voucher for irregularities with your baggage, which apply to Spain, the United States, London, Chile and other countries.
Recommendations for use
- It can be redeemed through the Contact Centre (only in the name of the cardholder) or at the sales offices on presentation of your voucher and identification document. It cannot be redeemed at travel agencies or on our website.
- This EMD can only be transferred to a relative of first degree of consanguinity (Spouse, Child, Father or Mother), for which a photocopy of the documents of the holder and the relative must be presented, as well as the EMD signed by both. It is not necessary for the holder to be present.
- For transfer to the spouse, the Civil Register of Marriage, Extrajudice or Certificate of Marital Union is required.
- It will only be possible to transfer the EMD once, i.e. from the holder to a family member, the receiving family member will not be able to transfer it again.
- If there is a balance in favour, a new compensation will be issued in the name of the holder of the DME and this will be governed by the same conditions and validity of the initial compensation.
- The value of the EMD/MPD is paid in the local currency of the country of redemption using the prevailing exchange rate, which applies to ticket sales.
- The person in whose name this voucher is issued is responsible for its security and proper use, the airline issuing the EMD/MPD is not responsible for its loss or misuse.

The issue and dispatch of the EMD/MPD, in physical or electronic form, by the operator of the flight and the receipt of the EMD/MPD by the passenger, implies payment by the operator of compensation for the failure of the transport service in relation to the flight to which the EMD/MPD relates, without acceptance of legal liability for the operator.

It is also proof that the passenger accepts that the EMD/MPD may be used in administrative or judicial proceedings as proof of payment of compensation and of the passenger's waiver of the right to pursue any other action against the operating carrier, its affiliates, and subsidiaries, their employees, agents and insurers for the events for which payment is made.
Note: Passengers affected by delays or cancellations on flights originating in the United States are not entitled to compensation, however, they are entitled to receive assistance services provided that the irregularity is for reasons attributable to the carrier.
- It is redeemable in cash. You must present yourself at a sales office with your voucher and identification document. Depending on the money available in the cash desk, the total value of the compensation will be delivered.
- If you do not wish to be reimbursed in cash, the sales agent will ask for your bank details in order to process the payment by bank consignment and you will be notified of the dates on which you will receive your money.
- It can only be used by the holder of the compensation.
- If the holder is a minor, only the parents can collect the compensation by proving their relationship (copy of birth certificate or civil registry and identity card of the parents).
- It cannot be redeemed at travel agencies, contact centres or on our website.
