How can I request an upgrade to Business class with Plusgrade?

With Plusgrade you can make a bid to upgrade to Business class and enjoy all its benefits on your flights to and from Europe, and in wide body aircrafts in the Americas.

To bid for an upgrade in Plusgrade, you must have your booking data and follow these steps:  

    1. Enter avianca.com and go to the Upgrade to Business Class section
    2. Fill in the fields with your booking details
    3. Choose how much you would like to pay for the upgrade for each way of your trip (Bid applies only for the flight you select).
    4. Enter your payment information as per your credit card details. If the upgrade is awarded, the amount of your bid will be charged to your card, otherwise, there will be no charge.
    5. We will send you an email to confirm that we have received your bid.
    6. Prior to your departure, within a maximum of 24 hours, you will receive an email confirming the acceptance of your bid. If your bid is not accepted, you will pay nothing and keep your current seat.
Important information
  • You will not be able to request a refund if your bid was accepted.
  • If you made a bid for an upgrade and it was selected, the system generates a temporary hold on the credit card for the full amount of the bid and you may receive a communication from your bank (SMS, email or other) with that amount. This appears as a "pending" charge on your bank account.
  • On some occasions, due to unforeseen situations, the upgrade cannot be processed. In these cases, the temporary hold is released from the card within 5 to 10 business days. The exact time period varies with each card issuer, the issuer has control over when these amounts will be withdrawn or reversed. In such a situation, the transaction will not be approved, therefore, we will not charge your credit card.
Conditions for getting a refund

The only reasons for which the Business Class upgrade payment will be reimbursed are:

  • Flights canceled by us.
  • Rescheduling: If we reschedule and there is no availability in Business Class to accommodate your upgrade. 
  • Other: A Business Class seat could not be assigned due to situations such as aircraft changes, delays in connecting flights, among other causes.

You must request reimbursement within three months after the flight date. If the refund is approved, the payment you made for the upgrade will be refunded to the credit card you used to pay for the bid. Complete the following form to request your refund.

If refunds are approved, they will be processed in the same currency in which you made the payment. Bank charges for this transaction will not be refunded, they will be limited to the amount charged for the upgrade.
