Take into account the characteristics of the container (carrier) if your pet is flying in the cabin or in the hold.
- It must be a soft-sided container that you can place under the seat in front of you.
- Its measurements should be 22 × 14 × 10 in (56 × 36 × 25 cm) — length, width, and height — and your pet should not exceed 8 in (20 cm) in height.
- It must allow your dog to stand comfortably, with enough space to turn around and move naturally, without touching the ceiling or the walls during the flight.
- Your pet should be able to stand up and turn around while inside, and the container should have holes to let air out.
- It must have a system for waste collection during transportation.
- Your pet must stay in their container with the door closed, and under the seat at all times.
- You will be able to feed it, as long as it remains inside the container.
- It must be a rigid container made of materials such as fiberglass, metal or plastic.
- Its measurements may vary depending on the size of your pet.
- Your pet should be able to move comfortably.
- It must be clean and leak-proof.
- The food and water bowls must be empty, separate, and fixed to the container, and have access from the outside to water the pet in case of an emergency or flight delay.
- The exterior and interior may not have any parts that could hurt your pet, people, or the airport infrastructure.
- Openings for ventilation should be small. If they are not, cover them with a mesh.
- Doors can be sliding or hinged and have locking latches. The material can be either plastic, wood, or metal.
- If the container has wheels, lock them. Doors should have safety latches that allow opening without requiring a special tool.
- If your pet is an American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, De Presa Canario, Doberman, Dogo Argentino, Dogo de Bordeaux, Fila Brasilero, Neapolitan Mastiff, Pitbull Terrier, Rottweiler or Japanese Tosa, it may travel in a metal-walled container, with non-toxic materials that allow feeding and hydration. If flying in a plastic container, it is necessary that your dog has a basket muzzle.
Remember:
- We do not carry pets in containers that are in bad condition (rusty mesh, hinges, or latches that don't work)
- If your dog is large or aggressive, it should fly in a wooden or metal container with 2 locks on each side of the door. It should have holes to allow ventilation.
- Containers made entirely of welded mesh or wire mesh are not allowed.
