Checked baggage

What happens if my baggage is overweight or exceeds the permitted dimensions?

If your baggage exceeds the allowed weight or dimensions, an additional charge will apply on top of the baggage fee already purchased.

Baggage is considered overweight or oversized when it exceeds:

  • Weight: 23 kg in Economy Class or 32 kg in Business Class
  • Dimensions: 158 linear cm (height + length + width)

Please note:

Overweight baggage:

  • On flights to and from Europe, the maximum allowed weight for overweight baggage is 32 kg.
  • On all other routes, the limit is 45 kg.
  • Overweight charges are applied according to weight ranges.

Oversized baggage:

Checked baggage dimensions must not exceed 230 linear cm.

If your baggage exceeds these limits, we suggest transporting it through Avianca Cargo.
