It is an agreement between airlines that allows the commercialization (ticket sales) of one company on flights operated by another. This makes it possible for both airlines to have a greater offering of destinations and frequencies. Through a codeshare, one airline sells and operates the flight, and the other airline sells without operating the flight.
- Purchase a single ticket with different segments in a single transaction and currency.
- Go through a single check-in process for all segments.
- Your baggage is automatically transferred to the final destination (unless otherwise requested by airport security authorities).
- In most cases enjoy frequent traveler programs benefits on other airlines. For more information, check the flight partners.
- Itinerary changes or cancellations occurring within 0–2 days before the flight departure will be handled by the operating airline.
- For itinerary changes or cancellations occurring 3 or more days before the flight departure, the airline that sold the ticket will be responsible for resolution. Responsibility times may vary according to the current agreement with the strategic partner.
Cabin Baggage:
- Before traveling, make sure to review the baggage policies on the partner airline's website. Airlines may apply their baggage policy.
Checked Baggage:
- If you have a connecting trip on a single ticket, you can check the allowed baggage allowance in the ticket details. Note that checked baggage will be respected from your origin to final destination.
- The corresponding value will be charged to the final destination, with no additional charges at connection points. Remember to keep your excess baggage payment receipts to avoid additional charges.
- If you carry additional baggage, overweight baggage, oversized baggage, or special baggage not included in your fare, it will be checked by the airline with which you originate the journey. You must ensure that the airline with which you are connecting allows the carriage of special baggage; if not, it will be your responsibility to manage the baggage.
- Each airline may apply its own baggage policy regarding the number of pieces, dimensions, and weight. Before flying, review the policies of the airlines operating each segment.
-
- Go to avianca.com
- Choose the origin, destination, dates, and number of passengers for the flight you wish to search.
- You will find available flights to select the one that best fits your itinerary.
- Click on the number of stops to see which airline will operate each segment of your trip, among other details.
If a segment is operated by another airline and, furthermore, its flight number starts with the AV code, this means that your itinerary corresponds to a code-share flight. Remember to review the conditions and benefits of this type of flight.
