Yes, you can change the date and time of your flight before departure. Keep in mind that additional charges may apply depending on your fare conditions.
Do it easily online by following these steps:
- Go to Manage your booking on avianca.com.
- Click on “Change your flight” and select the flight you want to modify.
- Choose your new date, time, or destination and confirm your selection.
- Enter your payment method, complete the details, and finish the process.
- You’ll receive an email with your updated itinerary.
Change the date and time of your flight
Depending on the purchased fare, there are 3 types of charges
- Change fees: charges that apply when you voluntarily change your flight (only applies to Basic, Light, Classic, and Business Classic fares).

- Fare difference: is the difference in value between the ticket fare you initially bought and the new fare you are selecting (applies to all fares).
- Differences generated by taxes (applicable according to the regulations of each country).
Advance your flight if you are a Lifemiles elite member
- If you are a Lifemiles elite member (diamond, gold, or silver), you can advance your flight on domestic routes in Colombia at no additional charge. This benefit does not apply to Basic or Light fares, nor to Lifemiles Red Plus members.
- If you are a diamond member, you and your companion can access this benefit, as long as you are under the same reservation. Visit the airport counter to request the change.
- This benefit only applies to flight advances, not to date changes, and is subject to availability.
Important information
- Changes are not permitted after the flight’s departure, regardless of the fare purchased.
- Flex and Business Flex fares allow changes before departure with no change fee, but fare differences and taxes may apply.
- Purchases or changes to your itinerary are allowed on avianca.com up to 35 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 1 hour for international flights, and through our Contact center up to 6 hours before departure for domestic and international flights.
- Charges for changes before flight departure have the same cost, whether it is for a one way flight or a round trip.
- Changes apply per route, and are available only to set the date or time of your flight.
- Flights must be strictly executed in the order and dates contracted according to the ticket. Any changes to this will be governed by the conditions of the acquired Fare, in which case the reservation will be modified or canceled as appropriate.
- If you have round-trip tickets with origin or destination in Colombia, and you did not use the first flight, you may use the subsequent segments as long as you inform our Contact center at least one hour before the departure of the first flight or at the latest one hour after.
- For tickets purchased in Brazil only: If your round-trip tickets include domestic flights within Brazil and you did not use the first segment, you may use the following segments without penalty, as long as you inform the airline before the scheduled departure time. This applies in accordance with current Brazilian regulations.
- Starting July 2025, if you request a voluntary change to your ticket (route, segment, or fare conditions not applicable) and it includes an additional service, the EMD—Electronic Miscellaneous Document, which can be used as full or partial payment for avianca products or services—will be automatically updated with the change. For seat purchases, the change will apply as long as a similar seat (or one at the same price) is available. In other cases, changes will not be possible.
