Wheelchairs

Can I request wheelchair service?

If you need support to move around the airport or during your trip, you can request a wheelchair as part of our special assistance service. Request it when booking your ticket or before your flight through the following channels:

  • When booking on avianca.com:

When purchasing your ticket on avianca.com, go to the Personalize your trip page and click on Accessibility and assistance. There, you can select if you have a disability, are traveling with a service dog, or if you require wheelchair service.

  • Through Manage your booking:

If you already have a booking, go to Manage your booking with your reservation code and last name. In the Personalize your trip section, select Accessibility and assistance and indicate if you have a disability or if you need a wheelchair.

  • By contacting our Contact center:

You can request this assistance by calling our Contact center at least 24 hours before your flight departure. If you are flying to or from Europe, you must call at least 48 hours before your flight.

Important

  • Arrive at the airport with enough time, at least 4 hours before international flights and 3 hours before domestic flights. Please note that if you do not book the service within the recommended timeframes, we cannot guarantee the service.
  • Inform us if you are traveling with additional medical equipment, such as an oxygen concentrator, portable dialysis devices, among others.
Considerations for Europe
  • Wheelchair service, mobility aids (up to 2 items), service dogs and medical equipment are free of charge; request them before your flight through the Contact Center.
  • If you require a wheelchair, we recommend that your carry-on baggage does not exceed 10 kg to make handling easier.
  • Mobility items are strictly for your personal use. Otherwise, they will replace your checked baggage, or if additional, they will incur an extra fee.

Spain

Special assistance service is provided directly by Aena (Spanish Airports and Air Navigation) at the designated meeting points in each airport. If you require wheelchair service, you must request it directly from the airline at least 48 hours before the flight’s departure.

After this time, requests must be made directly to Aena. Once the request is received, Aena will be informed between 36 and 48 hours before the flight through a special list for this procedure. Find all the information on the Aena website.

London

If you require wheelchair service, you must request it at least 48 hours before the flight’s departure. Once we receive your request, we will notify the wheelchair service provider 36 hours before the flight. Upon arrival at the airport, contact one of our representatives for the corresponding assistance.
