At certain times of the year, weather conditions may pose a risk to the safety and well-being of pets traveling in the aircraft's cargo hold. For this reason, pet transportation in the cargo hold is temporarily restricted on certain routes. See the applicable routes below.
Summer season
Due to high temperatures, pets cannot be transported in the aircraft's cargo hold on flights to and from the following destinations:
- June 24 – September 30, 2026: Orlando, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Tampa, Ontario, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Monterrey, Cancún, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, San Juan, Madrid, and Barcelona.
- December 1, 2026 – February 28, 2027: Asunción and Rio de Janeiro.
Winter season
During periods of low temperatures, pet transportation in the cargo hold is also suspended on certain routes. This restriction applies December 15, 2026 – March 31, 2027 for flights to and from: Dallas, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, Washington, D.C., Toronto, and Montreal.
On Avianca flights operated by Clic, checked pet transport is not available. These aircraft currently do not have ventilated cargo holds, which is essential for the safe transport of animals. We recommend:
- Confirm whether your itinerary includes flights operated by Clic.
- Consider the option of traveling with your pet in the cabin, as long as all requirements are met.
- Look for alternative schedules operated directly by Avianca where the service may be available.
Please note that pet transport is subject to availability, safety conditions, and compliance with all applicable requirements.
